heated floor tiles
Radiant heated ceramic tile! Just when you think that you have heard it all, something else pops up. It seems as if everyone in the world loves the many positive aspects of ceramic tile when it is properly installed in the bathroom of a home. However, there is a rapidly growing trend to expand the application of this fantastic material into the kitchen and even into the patio area. But, on the other side of the coin, there is one major drawback to ceramic tile; it is very cold to the touch. So, I guess heating up that tile is not such a bad idea after all.

Most homeowners of today are accustomed to heat being delivered by some kind of a forced hot air furnace. This system has served its’ purpose well. With the turn of a thermostat, the temperature of the home can be as warm as a person desires. The main disadvantage is that warm air rises very quickly. The floors are always very chilly especially in the winter months. However, the power source of radiant heat is located underneath the flooring. Therefore, any ceramic tiles or laminate flooring or even concrete flooring is always warm to the touch as long as the heating system is turned on.

Cold floors in the summer months may be refreshing; but definitely not when it is below zero outdoors.

So if you are in the process of having a new home built or maybe just doing some much needed remodeling, remember the concept of radiant heating. It definitely will change the way you think about winter. No more heavy socks or insulated booties will be needed. Your whole body will be toasty warm; not from head to toe, but from toe to head.
